Lucy's in the Sky with Diamonds

She is in my mind, anyway. Thursday, I said goodbye to my dog of 14 years.

Lucy was honestly the best dog I ever knew. I can't think of one thing she ever did wrong. Everyone who ever entered my home growing up instantly took to Lucy. She had such a loving way about her. For 14 years she watched me grow, sat with me through my blunders and wagged her tail for my triumphs. Never once did she complain, never did she falter. To the best dog I have known, forever will I love you. I bid thee farewell, my friend.

We had to put our 14 year old dog to sleep last October. It was very hard. She was the best dog. I brought her with me from Caifornia when I moved here. I know how you are feeling. Dogs are very special and make our lives better.

  3. I had to put my lab of 13 years down on Monday... I can't explain how sorry I am for you. It was horrible, but she's in a better place now.

Sorry for your loss, Meg! I know what it's like to lose a four-legged friend of 14 years. Luckily, we've got pictures and memories to keep them alive! : )

  6. Share A 3X3 foot rolling box with a dog for 12 years, all across the nation and FINALLY make it home to stay and then he passes away. My heart is certainly with you.I built a Shadow Box for Buster and although I still get a tight throat every time I look at it, it has helped. Every day get's a little better. You have a lot of hurt and love stored up inside you. Let it settle and then my suggestion would be for you to walk the cages at the Abilene Animal Shelter and the Rescue The Animals place out at the west end of South 1st. Do it more than once because when you find the one that will never replace Lucy, you will know. You gave Lucy a lot of years of love. She would not want you to grieve because when YOU get to Heaven, being greeted by the animals you saved and loved during your lifetime will be just as sweet as anything Heaven has to offer.
